Transfer of Technology

The institute has pursued conventional and new innovative techniques to sensitize the farming communities to transfer its technologies in an effective manner. Some of the innovative techniques include front line demonstrations short-term, adoption of villages for, distribution of seeds of improved salt tolerant varieties, help local administration in solving specific problems such as gas problem in cavity pits, project formulation for Hariyali, assessment of flood/cyclone damage, eco-friendly disposal of wastewaters, impact analysis and technologies for tsunami affected lands in Tamil Nadu and ‘Aila’ cyclone in west Bengal. Organization of training programme are conducted under various progarmmes. In the recent few years, over 1500 SMSs working in different State Departments, universities and ICAR institutes have been trained under human resource development programms. Course curriculum for non degree training courses on Irrigation Management and Land Drainage (Indo-Dutch Programme) were also developed and the training course for Indian and Foreign Nationals were organized.

Besides services like testing of soil and water samples for reclamation and fertility recommendations, distribution of publications in Hindi and other regional languages, traveling workshops, toll-free telephone facility for query solving, sensitization workshop in farmers’ fields are the regular features of our technology transfer efforts that helps us to bridge the gap between the farmers and the scientists.

Dr Subhasis Mandal awarded Lal Bahadur Shastri Outstanding Young Scientist Award of ICAR for the year 2015


Dr. Ajay Kumar Bhardwaj has been awarded “Lal Bahadur Shastri Outstanding Young Scientist Award” of ICAR for 2015. He bagged the award for Natural Resource Management and Agricultural Engineering
